The SSG 5 is a high-performance hardware security platform used for dedicated server or co-location clients, who wish to stop internal and external attacks, prevent unauthorised access and achieve regulatory compliance. The SSG 5 delivers 160 Mbps of firewall traffic and 40 Mbps of IPSec VPN traffic.

The SSG 5 Security appliance protects clients against worms, viruses, Trojans, spam and emerging malware, and delivers proven Unified Threat Management (UTM) security features backed by best-in-class partners. To address internal security requirements and facilitate regulatory compliance, the SSG 5 supports an advanced set of network protection features such as security zones, virtual routers and VLANs that allow administrators to divide the network into distinct secure domains, each with its own unique security policy. Policies protecting each Security Zone can include access control rules and inspection by any of the supported UTM security features.

The SSG 5 has seven on-board 10/100 interfaces with optional fixed WAN ports. The broad array of I/O options coupled with WAN protocol and encapsulation support in the routing engine make the SSG 5 a solution that can easily be deployed within the Micron21 Datacentre.

Option 1 - Micron21 can manage firewall rules for each useable IP address on our network, with clients being able the required rules. A maximum of 4 hours response time is required for rule addition or modification during business hours.

Option 2 - Total client control using a Juniper Hardware SSG5 firewall and VPN terminator, giving the client total control to specify own rules.
