Free Cyber Security Audit

Unfortunately, Australia is becoming an increasing target for cyber criminals. In recently released data for 2022 Q4 by SurfShark, Australia, for the very first time has now surpassed Russia and Turkiye, and now leads the world for data breaches. This is in part due to the recent spate of high profile data thefts from the likes of Medibank, Optus, Telstra and Harcourts (see our Blog for more insight).

According to the Australian Cyber Security Centre 2022 Financial Year report, there were over 76,000 reports for cybercrime - that's an increase of 13% from the previous financial year. In addition to this:

  • Financial losses due to business email compromise, rose to over $98 million (averaging to $64,000 per cybercrime report);
  • There was a 25% increase in the number of publicly reported software vulnerabilities; and
  • The average cost per cybercrime report rose to over $39,000 for small businesses, to over $88,000 for medium businesses, and to over $62,000 for large businesses.

Aside from the direct costs associated with being hacked, there is also the reputational damage that occurs and the loss of consumer confidence should your organisation be compromised.  All organisations bound by the Privacy Act (1988), are required by law to notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) when a data breach involving personal information is likely to result in serious harm.  Before it gets to this stage, it's worth considering a review of your organisation's cyber security capability and ability to deal with current threats.

With this, Micron21 is pleased to offer a free one hour consultation to local businesses, along with an external vulnerability scan, to help assess your organisation's cyber security position.  As an Australian owned and operated data centre, Micron21 has been specialising in online security since its inception. Our DDoS mitigation services has protected some of Australia's largest Internet Service Providers from large scale attacks.
