Cloud Computing

Micron21 cloud computing helps businesses do more, faster.

Being a holistic data centre, we provide a comprehensive range of cloud platforms that have been designed to meet all our client's requirements.

What is Cloud Computing?

Cloud computing represents a shift in traditional computing.  It provides businesses with on-demand access to a variety of software and services.

Where businesses previously had to purchase servers with significant up-front expenditure, cloud computing offers access to a pool of configurable compute resources at the platform, infrastructure and application layers.

Micron21 cloud computing helps businesses do more, and do it faster.   This is because businesses can take advantage of our powerful data centre infrastructure and IT services without having to build, manage or maintain them themselves.

Cloud Computing

Types of Cloud Computing Models

Public Cloud

Host your systems on a high-performance public cloud that actually protects you from downtime with high availability (HA) infrastructure.

Hybrid Cloud

Extend your existing infrastructure into the cloud whilst still utilising and benefiting from your existing hardware via hybrid cloud.

Private Cloud

Benefit from the scalability, flexibility, and customisability of public cloud, by utilising your own hardware for even greater security and efficiency.

Multi Cloud

Utilise multiple cloud providers to increase your flexibility, reduce your costs, and mitigate the risks of relying on a single provider.

Types of Cloud Computing Services

Software as a Service (SaaS)

Unlike IaaS and PaaS solutions, which are intended for use by system administrators and developers respectively, SaaS solutions aim to provide software and services directly to end-users without any requirement for them to set up or manage infrastructure or software.

With SaaS platforms, applications are built to solve a particular problem, and these applications are hosted on infrastructure and platforms owned and managed by the developers each application.

SaaS

Platform as a Service (PaaS)

PaaS solutions aim to provide an even better experience for developers.  They do this by providing platforms that allow for software development without the requirement for system administration of back-end systems.

This is achieved through providing a level of abstraction between that software and the systems that they run on, with the PaaS provider dealing with the administration of the underlying platform.

PaaS

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)

IaaS cover all IT aspects from the hardware and virtualisation layers down. This includes physical servers, networking, cooling, power, location, and virtualisation.

IaaS services allow clients to create and manage their own IT environments without needing to worry about where the rubber meets the road, leaving that to be managed by their IaaS provider.

IaaS

Metal as a Service (MaaS)

MaaS solutions aim to prove the hardware that virtualisation platforms rely on, but on lease models that don’t require large up-front capital expenditure.

MaaS services allow clients to benefit from the financial savings of utilising your own hardware rather than utilising public cloud services, but with without the downsides of hardware ownership, such as hardware senescence.

Visual Guide to Shared Responsibility

With each cloud computing deployment model and service, the responsibilities of the provider and user differ.  Below is a visual guide on where the lines are drawn.

Migration

The Micron21 team are experts in facilitating a smooth and swift migration from VMware’s ESXi, Hyper-V, or other virtualisation platforms to mCloud.

Consultation

We’re experts on everything cloud.  We can offer guidance for designing, building, and maintaining all different types of compute and storage platforms.

Server Contribution

Our mCloud platform allows for a unique approach, contributing hardware to a public cloud. This allows clients to benefit from the high availability (HA) of public cloud, without the usually associated high costs.

Need help solutioning or migrating?

Wherever you’re currently hosted, we have dedicated solution architects that can assist with the design, build, and migration away from your current platform.

We’re experts in designing large-scale cloud platforms and can assist you regardless of what platform you are looking at moving to.

If you're interested in migrating over to any of our cloud platforms, we'd love to have a conversation to assist you with this next stage of your cloud platform journey.
