How to Add or Remove resources for a VM Instance in mCloud

This article describes the steps required to change your VM resource allocation using ‘Flavors’ via the mCloud Dashboard

Important note before you start

  • Resizing a VM WILL power it off!
    Before you start this process, ensure that powering down the VM will not impact your production environments

Method

  1. Log into mCloud at https://mcloud.micron21.com/

  2. Navigate to Project > Compute > Instances

  3. Locate the Instance you’d like to resize. Then select the drop-down menu on the right

  4. In the dropdown menu click the "Resize Instance" option

  5. Select the Flavor you’d like to change the VM instance to.

    1. Important: Resizing VMs WILL power off the VM, so be sure you are able to have the VM offline now

  6. Confirm you can power down the VM instance, then click ‘Resize’

  7. Then, On the right-hand side, select "Confirm Resize/Migrate" to begin the resizing

  8. Allow the resizing to complete, This should take around 1 minute, depending on the size of the image, then power the machine back on.
